GIZ ทำงานร่วมกับเกษตรกรเพื่อนำไปสู่ความมั่นคงทางอาหารในภูมิภาค
ภาคการเกษตรมีความสำคัญมากในทั่วทุกมุมโลก โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในทวีปเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้นั้น ภาคการเกษตรมีบทบาทสำคัญในด้านเศรษฐกิจและวิถิชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของประชากร ในนามของสหพันธ์สาธารณรัฐเยอรมนี GIZ ได้ดำเนินงานร่วมกับเกษตรกรทั่วทุกภูมิภาคในประเทศไทย เพื่อส่งเสริมทักษะและถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ให้แก่เกษตรกรเพื่อรับมือกับความท้าทายที่ภาคการเกษตรเผชิญอยู่ในปัจจุบัน ได้แก่ การเปลี่ยนแปลงภูมิอากาศ ความผันผวนของตลาด และสังคมเกษตรกรผู้สูงอายุ GIZ สนับสนุนเกษตรกรผ่านโครงการต่างๆ มากมายแต่ทว่าการดำเนินงานที่จะพัฒนานำไปสู่ความมั่นคงทางอาหารในภูมิภาคจำเป็นต้องทำงานร่วมมือจากหลายภาคส่วน GIZ ดำเนินงานร่วมกับภาคเอกชน สถาบันวิจัย องค์กรไม่แสวงหาผลกำไร และองค์กรพัฒนาอื่นๆ เพื่อสร้างผลลัพธ์อันทรงคุณค่าและยั่งยืนแก่เกษตรกร
ตัวอย่างผลงานที่ผ่านมา โครงการริเริ่มข้าวที่ดีขึ้นแห่งเอเชีย หรือ Better Rice Initiative Asia (BRIA) ได้เสริมสร้างความมั่นคงทางอาหารและโภชนาการที่ดีในประเทศอินโดนิเซีย ฟิลิปปินส์ ไทย และเวียดนาม โดยการเสริมสร้างห่วงโซ่คุณค่าของข้าวและเพิ่มรายได้ของเกษตรกรที่ปลูกข้าวในพื้นที่ชนบท โครงการ BRIA ได้เข้าถึงเกษตรกร 124,000 ราย และได้เพิ่มรายได้ของเกษตรกรถึง 20% ผ่านวิธีการปลูกข้าวที่ดีและปลอดภัย โดยเริ่มตั้งแต่การอบรมเกษตรกรในวิธีการปลูกข้างต่างๆ จนถึงการตลาดในประเทศและภูมิภาค

GIZ works with farmers for a more food secure Region
Agriculture is of great significance almost anywhere in the world, but especially in Southeast Asia, the sector plays a key role in its economies, lives and livelihoods. On behalf of Germany, GIZ works with farmers from Thailand and across the region on equipping them with the necessary skills and know-how to tackle the many challenges that the agriculture sector is facing today: climate change, fluctuating markets and an ageing farmers’ population. Through its various projects, GIZ supports farmers to become competitive, inclusive and resilient. However, improving food security in the region cannot be done alone. GIZ cooperates with many motivated partners from the private sector, research institutes, NGOs, and other development organizations to create significant and lasting impacts for farmers.
A lighthouse example is the “Better Rice Initiative Asia” (BRIA) project, which works towards enhancing food and nutrition security in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam through enhancing the rice value chain and increasing the income of rice farmers in rural areas. BRIA has reached more than 124,000 farmers and increased their income by 20% through the production of better and safer rice. It has been achieved through the strengthening of the whole rice value chain in the project countries, starting with farmer trainings on different farming practices and then marketing the rice at local and regional markets. For better nutrition, fortified rice and fortified oil were being promoted which reduced the prevalence of anaemia in participating adolescent girls by 41%.
